The season of clouds and light

November’s first rains start the season I call Clouds and Light. After months of brilliant blue, sunny skies, the weather and wildlife are the stars of the show… The garden is buttoned up, the last of the garden’s produce picked and there is a rest for the gardener, finally. With the Peckinpah Ridge as the background to our little world and two sets of large sliding doors looking out, I literally have a window onto this world of mine and,… bring it on, Mother Nature,….I am ready!

Clouds break

Early morning sunrise

Fast moving fog from the Central Valley can fill can cover the mountain completely in minutes

The mountain ‘disappears’ in the sudden fog

A layer of wispy clouds settle in  on the pines

Even with a dusting of snow, the sun shines bright and the wind blows the clouds away over the mountain

Painterly light, ever changing….

Rainy days create wisps of cloud that hang over the waterfall, now filled with white water

Late afternoon sun ‘spotlight’ allows you to see every branch on the pines across the valley

Even late on stormy afternoons, an orange sun beam focuses on the mountain as if from a burning glass
