Across the valley, where Willow Creek flows south, there is a tall sugarpine that becomes backlit at a certain point in the morning. It must be on our side of the mountain, but far below. Here it is in November:
Early morning, February 15th, I woke up to see everything covered in a frosting of snow. I especially like snow during the day when I can watch it. As dawn broke and the fog lifted, I could see my backlit tree appearing in and out of it.
A lot of time can be spent just watching the mountain as others have commented who are fortunate enough to ‘have’ one to watch. For whatever time I have to spend in this place, I am ever so grateful.
I tried to get the orientation of the tree exactly, to make a fun slideshow.
