Spring 2006-New Front Beds

The objective is to plant shrubs and trees as foundations for the beds. Here are the first plants put in.  Lots of reading was done to find out what the deer didn’t like to eat, with advice from the neighbors. They also helped with identifying the exisiting plants here… Renota was in the park service for 20 years and knows everything about the wildlife and plants here it seems.  See a page on the exisiting native plants on the property here.

I planted germander, Teucrium chamaedrys, a ground cover found at the Intermountain Nursery that was new to me,  between the shrubs and conifers, and Mexican Primrose, too, which I liked and heard was invasive. I thought it was so bare, I need something to fill the space.. Also, Lemon thyme was used as an edging.
