Morning snowy foggy tree

Across the valley, where Willow Creek flows south, there is a tall sugarpine that becomes backlit at a certain point in the morning.  It must be on our side of the mountain, but far below.  Here it is in November:

Early morning, February 15th, I woke up to see everything covered in a frosting of snow. I especially like snow during the day when I can watch it.  As dawn broke and the fog lifted, I could see my backlit tree appearing in and out of it.

A lot of time can be spent just watching the mountain as others have commented who are fortunate enough to ‘have’ one to watch.  For whatever time I have to spend in this place, I am ever so grateful.

I tried to get the orientation of the tree exactly, to make a fun slideshow.

Simply stunning! I’d sit and gaze wistfully at that changing vista and forget all about my responsibilities 🙂

Desiree, I know you would. I don’t know what we’d eat, but we’d just sit and look all day long.

Kerry, I was thinking of you when I wrote that line…hahaha Daydreamers, we are…

Thanks, Arleen. Now you know our secret here. Come and visit, please. We’re no that far away.

Ah, those special parts of our landscape that call to us over and over. There is a hill, lumpy in the middle of the valley that fingers its way down towards the ocean from here and I love seeing it in the different moods of nature, but haven’t quite gotten a picture that catches it. It always looks better in life. As stunning as your pictures are, I’m sure your magical tree looks better to you in your actual vision too.
