Those stubby trees make the picture almost look as if it were taken up near the timberline! Only the forested ridges in the background give away the elevation.

    Hi Sue,

It was such a lovely surprise to see I’d had a brand new visitor to my blog. Thank you so much for leaving me such a delightful comment – I simply had to pop on over and return your visit. So glad I did! I’m going to bookmark your site, as I can tell I’m going to learn a great deal from you.

I am fascinated by where you live – I know almost nothing about the Yosemite area, so it’s going to be so much fun touring your garden and surroundings with you. Next best thing to hopping on a plane to view it in person 😉

Hi Desiree, I, too, am delighted to find your blog. Here is my favorite view of Yosemite(View from Sentinal Dome) on a webcam that you can bookmark and check often.

I do, too! The formation is Half-Dome and was made famous by American photographer, Ansel Adams.
My family visited the park every year at the end of May on our Memorial Day and when the waterfalls are at their peak. Imagine my pleasure to find that it was possible to move 30 minutes away at this time in my life…(middle-age) 🙂

What an awesome, ominous sky! Recovery after a fire seems to be one of the big California narratives. Clearly things are growing back and it sounds like you’ve got a front row seat on the changes that happen in the years after a burn. Interesting, for sure, but still really beautiful.

Ominous is a good description, James! This storm was heading our way and as I drove by decided to go back up with my camera to take a few photos before it got to me.
It’s been ten years since the fire. I wish I had taken more photos of our place afterward. All the ground was black and crunchy and it had only burned about two feet up the trees, not as bad as in this photo.
