We have lived here for 8 months and five of those in the new house. As far as the garden goes, the first big priority was to dispose of the huge piles of construction debris…our responsibility according to our contract with Western Homes. For this the tractor was essential. Larry also brought up loads of sand from the little waterfall area where the pond used to be and topsoil from the forest floor.

These are my planting areas in spring of 2006:
Front Entry Bed-Evergreens, CA natives and groundcovers
Front Beds & Stacked Stone Wall- Evergreens, germander and thyme, lavender and rosemary.
Lower Patio Area- Iris, heuchera, and daylilies.
Rose Bed Area- Two iceberg roses and wildflowers.
Sycamore Area- Just one tree so far.
Still learning about CA natives and deer-resistant plants.
